Ramadan Competition Colorado 2025
The Colorado Imam Council, representing Muslim leaders and communities across the state unequivocally condemns the recent violent and hateful targeted attack in Boulder and stands unshakable solidarity with our Jewish neighbors. We also affirm that First Amendment rights for all Americans must be protected and preserved at all costs.
As the Qur’an teaches: “Whoever kills a soul—it is as if they had slain all of humanity. And whoever saves a soul, it is as if they had saved all of humanity.” [Surat al-Mā’idah, 5:32]
The Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم was sent as a “mercy to all the worlds.” His example teaches us to stand against injustice wherever it occurs, and to defend the oppressed, not only when it is easy, but especially when it is difficult.
We call on faith leaders and our elected officials to prioritize the protection and well-being of marginalized communities, especially the American Jewish and American Muslim communities in the wake of this horrendous attack.
We must all resist the voices of division, hate and collective blame for the acts of a deranged and misguided individual. This is consistent we as also rejected the blaming any entire community for the shooting of three Palestinian college students in Vermont for wearing a Keffeya, the stabbing to death of six-year-old Wadea al-Fayoume in Chicago, the attempted to drowning of a 3-year-old Muslim Palestinian girl in Euless, Texas, or 23-year-old Palestinian-
American man was stabbed after attending a pro-Palestinian rally in Austin, Texas, or any number of violent incidents that have targeted American Muslims, Arab-Americans or any people including Jewish activists who have supported a ceasefire in Gaza.
May Allah grant healing to the wounded, justice to the oppressed, and strength to all who labor for peace rooted in dignity and truth.
Signed,
The Colorado Imam Council
